KORA MUSIC COMPANION

Your music, beside your focus timer.

Our small extension for Chrome, Edge, or Brave on a computer connects your music tabs to Floating Focus. Once installed, it connects automatically.

Early access: the extension is not in the browser store yet. These steps let you try it now. The public version will use an “Add to browser” button.

    Download and open the folder

    Download the file below. In Downloads, right-click it and choose “Extract All” (Windows), or double-click it (Mac). Keep the extracted folder.

    Open your browser’s extension page

    Copy this address, paste it into the address bar at the top of your browser, and press Enter.

    Add the downloaded folder

    Turn on “Developer mode”. Click “Load unpacked”, then select the extracted “kanban-music-companion” folder. You only do this once.

    Return to Kora

    Windows: open Kora and switch to Dock; no Kora browser tab or repeat extension click is needed. The matching Companion is included: open Install or update Companion in dock settings, then Load unpacked its extension folder. Web: refresh Kora and open Floating Focus. Browser tab capture may need a toolbar permission click.

Update the installed Companion

Download the latest extension ZIP above. If you loaded Kora’s included extension, extract its contents into %LOCALAPPDATA%\Kora\music-companion\extension and replace the existing files. The folder must contain manifest.json directly. In your browser’s extension page, click Reload on Kora Music Companion, then refresh your music tabs. No project folder or app reinstall is needed. This updates the Companion only; Kora’s app version updates separately.

Make the lights follow your music

Windows Kora 0.1.15 with Companion 0.3.14 captures the music browser automatically, including new tabs and browser restarts. Pause one song and play another supported platform to switch. Other audio in the same browser, including calls, can affect beats; the picker does not isolate tab audio. Other desktop apps remain excluded. Web/PiP still needs browser-approved capture. Pause and silence stop real detections; unavailable analysis uses an explicitly labelled decorative fallback. Nothing is recorded or uploaded.

Follow instrumental notes

Windows Kora: choose AI instrument notes to download the local 157 MB model once. Instrument flashes follow with processing delay; sound and percussion stay immediate. Web/PiP: enable AI in Companion options; its 3.5-second audio buffer aligns all rows but can put videos out of sync. All audio stays on your device. Disable AI to leave row five dark. Dense mixtures can cause missed or extra notes.

No song showing up?

Keep the music tab open and press play there once. Check that Kora and your music are in the same browser and profile. Then refresh Kora.
